There are various parking locations scattered throughout the Village of Yellow Springs. Although some of the lots may be independently managed with a parking fee, many areas have FREE PARKING. The map above shows lot options within the downtown area. CAUTION: If you opt for off-street parking, please be aware of signage and ensure that the parking space is designated and legal at the risk of being ticketed or towed.

Whether it's rain or shine, we have protective options in place to help to keep everyone comfortable and secure. 5 Tips to Stay Safe at a Festival During Inclement Weather Festivals are a blast, but when the weather takes a turn for the worse, it's important to stay safe. Here are five tips to keep in mind: 1. Stay Informed Always keep an eye on the weather forecast before and during the event. Follow the YSPride social media accounts (Facebook|Instagram) and subscribe to our newsletter for real-time updates and important safety announcements. 2. Dress Appropriately Wear or bring weather-appropriate clothing. Waterproof jackets, hats, and sturdy, non-slip footwear can help keep you dry and comfortable. It's also a good idea to have a poncho or a small umbrella on hand. It is also HOT - Be sure to stay hydrated even if there is overcast. 3. Know Where to Take Shelter In the event of thunder or lightning, we'll need to turn off stage equipment for everyone's safety. Familiarize yourself with the festival layout and identify nearby shelters. We recommend taking cover at nearby local restaurants, shops, the Yellow Springs Public Library, or the John Bryan Community Center. These locations will provide shelter until it's safe to continue the festivities. Make a mental note of these locations when you arrive. 4. Stay Away from Open Areas During Storms Our festival is surrounded by beautiful green space, including trees. If there is thunder or lightning, it is necessary to seek shelter - away from the open area. Head to a sheltered location immediately and wait until the storm passes before returning to the festivities. 5. Keep Communication Lines Open Make sure your phone is fully charged before heading to the festival and consider bringing a portable charger. This way, you can stay connected with friends and family and receive timely weather updates and safety alerts from the festival organizers. Being prepared is the first step in safety. Yes. We partner with Greene County Department of Health which provides first-aid care during the festival. They will be set up near the YS Pride Information Booth. Someone should seek the help of the first aid tent in the following situations: 1. Injuries: Any cuts, bruises, sprains, fractures, or other physical injuries that need medical attention. 2. Heat-related Issues: Symptoms of heat exhaustion or heat stroke, such as dizziness, excessive sweating, nausea, or confusion. 3. Dehydration: Signs like severe thirst, dry mouth, dark urine, or feeling faint. 4. Allergic Reactions: Any severe allergic reactions, especially those affecting breathing or causing hives/swelling. 5. Intoxication: If someone is severely intoxicated, unresponsive, or showing signs of alcohol poisoning. 6. Drug Overdose: Signs of a drug overdose, such as unresponsiveness, difficulty breathing, or seizures. 7. Illness: Any sudden illness, like chest pain, severe headaches, or any condition that is causing significant distress or discomfort. 8. Lost Medications: If someone has lost or run out of necessary medications, like insulin or inhalers. 9. Mental Health Crisis: Signs of a panic attack, severe anxiety, or other mental health issues that need immediate attention. 10. Assault or Injury from Others: Any physical assault, injuries from fights, or other situations where someone has been hurt by another person. Seek help sooner rather than later to prevent minor issues from becoming major emergencies.

In light of this, it's important to remain safe and aware of our surroundings. If you encounter any issues, please alert local law enforcement or YS Pride volunteers immediately. Recognizing the difference between direct threats, which are actionable and must be legally addressed, and indirect insults, which are best ignored is critical. Although often difficult, our responses should consistently reflect the values we cherish, particularly in the context of a family-friendly celebration. PRIDE SAFETY TIPS When gathering as a community for Pride celebrations, it’s important to be intentional in maintaining safety in the space together. Pride goers who witness violence can play a pivotal role by informing event staff or law enforcement immediately. Charge your electronics and bring chargers and/or extra battery packs. Be aware of your surroundings: Locate public spaces and 24-hour businesses to seek help if you feel unsafe. Always trust your instincts. If you feel threatened or unsafe, remove yourself from the situation as quickly as possible. Notify event organizers or nightclub staff if you face violence or harassment for immediate support. Use words to alert bystanders and get away if you can. Consider your power and privilege in a situation, and consider the ways in which you can be most effective in helping another. Many times the best way to intervene doesn’t require becoming physically involved. Speak up, be LOUD, and call out what’s happening: identifying violence by name can help deter it. If you see something, say something! Distract and divert the attacker’s attention by making a scene, and being noisy to draw the attention of others. Record what’s happening by taking video on your phone. Ask what support the survivor needs and provide it if you can. In the face of adversity, we have a choice. Decide to rise above hate, to ignore offense, and to strive for a better world. Choose grace in your actions, lead with love in your interactions, and be the example that inspires others. Each one of us has the power to influence our community positively, to set a precedent for kindness and acceptance. At the YS Pride Festival, let's commit to being the change we want to see. As a family-friendly festival, YS Pride and all participants & attendees are committed to promoting an experience where all ages are welcome - from the youngest to the oldest. Below are tips for "10 Dress Don'ts" when attending the festival: 1. Overly Revealing Clothing: Avoid wearing anything too revealing or provocative. Aim for modesty to ensure the event remains family-friendly. 2. Offensive Graphics or Language: Steer clear of clothing with offensive, inappropriate, or controversial graphics and language. 3. Uncomfortable Shoes: Don’t wear high heels or shoes that aren’t comfortable for walking long distances. Blisters and sore feet can ruin your day. 4. Heavy Layers: Avoid heavy, non-breathable fabrics, especially if it’s hot. Overheating can be a risk in warm weather. 5. Costumes with Sharp Objects: Steer clear of outfits with sharp accessories or anything that could be hazardous to you or others. 6. Political or Divisive Statements: Pride is a celebration of unity and love. Avoid clothing with political or divisive statements that might detract from the positive atmosphere. 7. Offensive Cultural Appropriation: Don’t wear outfits that appropriate or disrespect other cultures. 8. Unsecure Bags or Accessories: Avoid carrying items that are easy to lose or steal. Opt for secure, easy-to-carry bags. 9. Heavy Makeup: Heavy makeup can melt or smudge in hot weather. Opt for lighter, more durable makeup options. 10.
